R.U.S.E. Wiki

The Type 20 "Ta-Se" AA tank is the combination of the modern Type 98 "Ke-Ni" light tank's chassis and a 20mm AA gun. Fast, its AA firepower is average, but can be directed against aircraft as well as light ground units. More modern in its design than the Type 97 "Chi-Ha" light tank, the Ta-Se enjoys a sloped armor, giving it better protection, roughly equivalent to a medium tank.

During development of the Ho-Ki the Japanese Army experimented with various configurations. A single gun variant was the Ta-Se, from Taikuu Sensha ("anti-air tank").

In November 1941, development began on an anti-aircraft version of the Type 98 with a 20 mm AA gun converted from a Type 98 20 mm auto-cannon in a circumferential turret. The single prototype was designated Type 98 Ta-Se, for Taikū ("anti-air") sensha ("tank"). Trials failed, and the project was canceled in 1943. Production was scheduled for March 1944.

Strategies and Tactics

  • When traveling behind friendly armor, this tank can prove to be a useful tool in repelling enemy aircraft, particularly fighter-bombers.
  • This is able to rout a Ju-87 before it drops its payload on the AA tank, but a single Ta-Se cannot do much else.
  • Scattering these out in small groups over a wide area is useful in scaring off enemy aircraft - but a determined air force will not be stopped by a few of these.
  • It is recommended that these should be built in larger numbers than usual AA as their damage is underpar comparing with other armoured AA

Pros & Cons

+One of the fastest SPAAGs in the game.

+/-As Japan does not have the Type 2 -20mm, Type 98 -20mm, Type 4 -20mm or the wide spread Type 96 -25mm AA guns in the game... The Ta-Se becomes important...

-½ the damage of the Wirbelwind but atleast it has the same armor.

-This thing is Not the most economical SPAAG in the game.

  • It requires research.
  • it takes up production on your armor factory.
  • 1 Wirbelwind can do the job of 2 Ta-Ses but cost 35 against the 50 + an MG 34 ontop of the deal.
