Hans-Ulrich Rudel was a GermanJU-87 Stuka pilot during World War II and was rewarded with the famous medal, the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. He is only mentioned once, during the mission West Meets East. In the mission, his squadron, Sturzkampfgeschwader 2, known only as "Rudel's Madmen", operate three Modified JU-87 Stukas, which primarily operate in the middle of the map but will attack the player regardless of where they choose to attack.

Although Rudel did historically operate Stukas and operate in Germany at the end of the war, he only engaged Soviet units, not Americans. His only wartime encounter with Americans was when he and his air force unit landed at an airfield where the 405th Fighter Group was operating after capturing it. There, they damaged their aircraft so they could not be used again.
Oberst Rudel's victory list would include 11 enemy aircraft shot down, making him a double ace plus one, and the Russian Navy battleship Marrat.
