|M1931 (A-19) Corps Gun|
"Seven troubles - one response."
|“|| Беда́ (никогда́) не прихо́дит одна́.|
"Trouble never comes alone."
- Russian Proverb
A sandbagged position armed with a 105mm medium-range artillery battery, rather weak, as bunkers go, but capable of shelling opponents from considerable range early in the game. The M1931 Artillery Position certainly gives weaker, faster opponents something to think about in the early phases of a campaign.
These bunkers should be positioned against bottleneck areas and is best against massed enemy ground units. It is vulnerable to air attack.
The real-world M1931 was a 122mm gun, not 105mm as in the game.
The M1931 was one of the first Soviet artillery pieces to feature split trail carriage. This carriage construction allowed for much better traverse angles compared to earlier single trail or box trail carriages. Good elevation angle and ability to use different propellant charges made the gun flexible indirect fire weapon, and its ballistics were powerful enough to make it useful in direct fire role against enemy armor (though, as mentioned above, it was not an ideal anti-tank gun because of its size, traverse speed and rate of fire).
The carriage of M1931 had a number of shortcomings though. The elevation mechanism was slow and unreliable; solid-tired wheels hindered mobility to some extent; there were technological problems in carriage production. These shortcomings eventually led to adopting a better carriage, creating the M1931/37.
As calibers similar to 122 mm were not typical for western field artillery of World War II era, pieces directly comparable to the M1931 were rare.
Pros & Cons Edit
+Somewhat cheap for an artillery unit
+/-Acceptable stats but fragile
-An artillery building, it's neither a reliable defence or a great support.
Strategy and TacticsEdit
This position is useful to lightly disturb infantry units and also to attack buildings, but it is remarkably weak and, for its static condition, very temporary. If the frontline changes, this artillery position presents all at one its severe shortages. Besides that, the artillery position handling is very annoying for the USSR average player.
