The 1945 era is a warmode (game mode) included in the base game; this is considered the most advanced mode (era) of the game. In this mode, all units from 1939+ to 1945+ are available for production by all factions, and the Prototype Base is available to build. This is the most advanced, and considered to be the hardest of all modes as there are around 25-30 extra advanced units available and a lot more touches of tactics and strategy involved.
Also, the user/commander/player should know that the enemy faction is going to be producing all necessary units their bases have to offer in the struggle against them.
